American Jeep

This American Jeep still keep in original condition by the owner who previously owned the LJ70 “Found LJ70”; I guess he still miss his Japanese Jeep as he drop by to see the progress of transformation.

According to him there will be an American Jeep owner gathering in Kuching Sarawak, Malaysia, projected will have close to hundred jeeps will be show up including the nearby Indonesia American jeep passionate.

Can’t wait to for such event in Kuching….

SAKTA 4x4 Jamboree will be held on the 21-22 Nov 09. This SAKTA Jamboree is to bring all four wheel drive enthusiasts and owners with the ultimate aim to experience the 200++ KM off road adventure, through the abandoned timber tracks in the Rayu/Sampadi/Biawak in the Lundu District, northern tip of Borneo in the state of Sarawak. Thus, driving through the unpredictable weather condition would make this event more challenging and adventurous. This 2 day and 1 night event would keep participants together, sharing experiences, interacting through fellowship with other four wheel drive car owners and enhance team building as well as educating new comers to understand the capability and limitations of their machines at the same time to enjoy what nature has to offer. This will also helps bring awareness to our younger generation the importance of preserving the environment whilst using the 4x4 vehicles. This event is NOT A COMPETITION. It is open to all 4-wheel Drive vehicle owners and their families. The supreme authority on this event will be officially appointed by SAKTA or the Organizer. The Organizing Chairman will head the event committee and members will include the Route Recce, Scouts, Press, Publicity and liaison officer

Coil spring enhancement

	The factory coil spring always too soft for more passengers; to change with the branded spring will easily cost MYR 4K or more. The cheaper way is to find a pair of small vehicle spring and mount it inside the existing coil spring, as the stopper will need to remove it to replace with smaller spring.
	The mounting of the small spring need to fabricate in order to fix well as base.

3 Oct 09 at found in www.mudah.my for sale; the LJ70 have not been running for the last three years;

This car will going to merge with BJ40 with currently lift spring and high gear ratio of original axle. theoretically it will be more comfortable and running faster with LJ
axles.

Ten Stupid Things men do...to mess up their four wheel drive

• 1 ignoring wheel cheat

(men know - friends are important -- tires are good friends - treat them well)
• 2 using too much speed or power

(many times, faster than too slow is too fast)

• 3 steering at standstill

(power steering is a wonderful tool to break tie rods etc)

• 4 using the clutch the same way as on pavement

(if you don't know what "starting in gear" means and you still use the clutch to regulate speed - see "A smart thing some men do" below )
• 5 following one's gut feeling

(most likely it'll be wrong - humans have no genetic imprint for driving cars yet)

• 6 straddling obstructions

(men should know - they would not take anything high between their legs either)

• 7 rushing through water

(humans want to rush away from danger and get in trouble in the process)

• 8 keeping thumbs in steering wheel

(bruised or broken thumbs really hurt)

• 9 hanging head out of window during difficult driving

(makes you "feel" you are in control - but you'll miss potential danger on the other side)

• 10 using 4WD after getting stuck

(now that is really stupid)

Lincoln Locker

A Lincoln Locker is a homemade spool created by welding the OEM carrier so that the spider gears no longer turn. This is known as a "Lincoln Locker" by adopting the name of a popular brand of welding equipment made by Lincoln. This method can vary anywhere from relatively strong to weak and brittle depending on the strength of the carrier being used and the quality of the welds and where the welds are placed. In many cases welds thought to be strong are not and break under the stress. Lincoln Lockers merely replace the minimal cost of a mini spool which has the same net results in traction but can be removed later and the spider gears put back in place.

Fozzy locker is a twist to the standard Lincoln Locker. Apparently made popular by a guy named Fozzy. The Fozzy Locker is a cheap, removable version of the "Lincoln Locker" where the teeth of the side gears of the spider gear set are partially filled by welding material.

Some people who have created a Fozzy locker weld up the valley between 2 adjacent teeth on the side gears as pictured to the right. Welds are done 180° apart. Both side gears are done this way. The valley between the teeth are then fill until flush with the top of the teeth and ground flat. Some people say there are a couple advantages to the fozzy Locker. By only doing the two valleys it allows the side gears to still rotate partially before locking. The gears that are being welded are the same gears that are replaced when a drop in a "lunch box locker" so if it doesn't work out as you hoped or if you damage a side gear, it can be replaced by one of several drop-in lockers such as a Lock Rite or a Detroit EZ Locker. Ultimately this type of locker will not ratchet (disengage) around corners as a an automatic locker would would and can be hard on the stock open carrier especially when a wheel spins and hits the weld placing a large amount of shock on the stock carrier.

Fiddle Brakes

If you get stuck in the mud you find one wheel just spins while the other stays stationery... with these simplistic fiddle brakes I'll be able to (hopefully!) exert enough force on the cable operated brake to clamp up the spinning wheel which will throw drive over to the other side and hopefully power the wheel that has some grip

2nd Transfer Case PTO

	This idea is to have PTO using 2nd transfer case (2TC) for those 4x4 vehicle’s gearbox without a PTO; The drive shaft from the original transfer case to the rear axle will be mounted to 2TC rear flange yoke, the 2TC front flange yoke will mount to the rear axle, the flange yoke from gearbox for 2TC will become the PTO to “super winch”.
